Interviewed by SRF, Martina Hingis spoke about playing mixed doubles with her compatriot and former World No. 1 Roger Federer at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. 'I talked to Roger on the phone 3 days ago and he agreed to play [in Rio].
I'm really happy about it' - said Hingis. 'It was a long process, I already asked Roger in February. 4 years ago he asked me to play with him in London I wasn't ready then, didn't play any tournaments. I was like: 'I can only lose next to you'.
But this year is different. It would be great to practice with Roger some time. Will Hingis be the boss when she's on court with Roger? '15 years ago I would have been (laughs), but things have changed in the meantime.
I won 3 out of 4 mixed Grand Slams this year so I know what it is about.' Hingis will play also women's doubles alongside Bencic. Interviewed by Sport360, Belinda said she still doesn't know if she is going to play mixed doubles with Wawrinka: ' A lot of people are asking me this but I cannot decide this.
It’s in the hands of Stan or from the people who organise this. I haven’t talked to anyone about it.' Wawrinka could play also men's doubles alongside Federer. They'll speak about it 'early next year', said Roger a few days ago.
