Miami Open top seed Stan Wawrinka has said that his compatriot Roger Federer is playing aggressive game and with the start he has had, he has a good chance to get back to the top of Emirates ATP Rankings. Wawrinka lost to Federer in the final of BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells on Sunday.
That meant that Federer claimed first Masters 1000 event of the season after grabbing first Grand Slam of the year in Australia. Stan said while talking to reporters in Miami, "He's playing really well, what is different maybe is he is playing closer from the baseline, preferring, using less his slice, he is using more top spin, putting more pressure all the time, returning better that's the difference I see.
For sure he has a shot for number one, he has just won the first Masters final. For sure he has a big shot." Currently, Federer is ahead of everyone in the Race to London having 3045 points, with Rafael Nadal at second place who has 1635 points.
Out of form and injury ridden Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic are at 10th and 18th spot with 840 and 475 points respectively. However, it is just the first quarter of the season so much more has to come. Wawrinka added, "It is going to be interesting to see.
Rafa (Nadal) is playing well also and we will see when Novak (Djokovic) and Andy (Murray) are back from injury, it is going to be really interesting for tennis fans." Federer, who already holds the record of most weeks as number one, will become the oldest player to be ranked number one if he regains top ranking.
