Roger Federer and Halle, a "love-story" that has been going on since 2000, when the Swiss player made the first of his 15 appearances (so far), reaching quarter-finals. From that year, Roger reached another quarter-final and at least 13 semifinals, playing the final 11 times and winning the title 8 times.
It's curious that he has chosen to play always Halle instead of Queen's, that has more story and tradition. Why did it happen? Probably it's caused by the fact that at the beginning of his career, since he wasn't high ranked, asked a wild card to Queen's, that refused to accept because the organizers thought it would have been better to send an invitation to other better players than Federer.
Instead Halle accepted to give Roger a wild card, and that's where the special relationship was born. In 2010 Federer signed a life-time contract with the German event, that obviously paid a lot the Swiss to make sure he plays the tournament every year.
The "cooperation" between them may continue also when Federer will call it a career. He may be the ambassador of the event. 'I have already spoken to Roger. He said he is open for any of our ideas', The tournament director Ralf Weber said. 'We would like to do charity-show matches with him.
He is the most impressive player personality in our history.' ALSO READ: Here is what Roger Federer will wear in Wimbledon, Toronto and Cincinnati!
