Roger Federer ready to help building new tennis courts in Basel

It was raining hard on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. Only two clay indoor courts were available to play at the Old Boys tennis club in Basel.

750 members of the club have to share these two courts or move to other parts of the city. Those two courts do not have normal standards in terms of ecological rules, and so they are thinking about building a new structure in the same area with four indoor courts and four outdoor.

Marco Chiudinelli, who retired from tennis just some weeks ago, is involved in the building project and informed Roger Federer about it. 'He is behind the project', said Old Boys president Marianne Bernet about Federer.

'We met after ATP Finals and we spoke. But he doesn't want to finance the project alone. He wants to see other five investors helping in an important way.' The cost is around 7 million Swiss Franc, it means 7.1 million dollars.

So far only 700.000 Franc came, and the rest will come from Swisslos Sportfonds and Ioans with banks. ALSO READ: Roger Federer: 'The more you think about retirement, the closer it gets' .
