Felix Auger-Aliassime is going to experience two of the best weeks of his life. The 17-year-old Canadian will leave for Dubai on Saturday where he will be practicing with 19-time Grand Slam champion, Roger Federer. 'We’re communicating with his coach,' Aliassime said in a conference call on Wednesday.
'Not sure which day he arrives but it will be for two weeks, from (December) 5th to 20th. I’ll mostly train with him; no guarantee on what I will do, but it’s becoming clearer.' He is excited and inspired: 'You will always motivate yourself by comparing yourself to the best in the world.
It’s a great opportunity, so you have to take advantage of it. I admire everything he does on court, off court, the person he is. And my coaches will be there so we can observe more closely what he does well, why he plays at such a high level.
I don’t know much about him, but I can’t wait to get there, and I can’t wait to train two weeks with him.' Aliassime, who started the season outside of the top-600 and is now ranked 162nd in the world, revealed his goals for 2018: 'I’m already playing the qualifying in Australia, so the goal is to qualify for a Grand Slam.
Obviously I’d like to qualify for all of them, but let’s start with one. Then, to be main draw at the US Open, and finish the year in the top-100. It’s an ambitious but quite realistic goal for me.
If I put the right things in place, it’s accessible.' Story by TennisLife ALSO READ: Anthony Joshua says he would like to be the Roger Federer of boxing .
