The 26th edition of the Gerry Weber Open is getting closer. The ATP 500 event will take place in Halle from 18th to 24th June, and most of the field has been already announced. Roger Federer, Alexander Zverev, Dominic Thiem, Kei Nishikori and Andrey Rublev will headline this year's event.
The world no. 1 will be the defending champion. 'The tenth title in Halle would obviously be fantastic, something very special and unique in my career,' Federer said during the Rotterdam Open in mid-February promoting the German event.
In 2017, Federer triumphed in Halle for the ninth time, beating Zverev in the final. 'It's always a great pleasure to come back to a site where I have great memories,' said Federer, who will make his 16th appearance in the tournament.
He added that had 'beautiful times' in Halle. Federer also added, 'The special attraction is that we play in a place away from the city. You can enjoy the relax, have short distances and perfectly prepare for your commitments.
There is a big excitement.' ALSO READ: Family first: Roger Federer won't play the Dubai Open!
