Kristina Mladenovic played the WTA Lugano this week, retiring when down 7-6, 3-2 to Tamara Korpatsch. Interviewed by Ticin Online ahead of the Swiss tournament, the French player had praised the 20-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer.
'He is just an amazing person, a legend. I can only say good things about his person. I know him well, I played with him and against him. I really like him a lot, both on-court and off,' Mladenovic had said.
Mladenovic won the 2016 Roland Garros women's doubles title with her compatriot Caroline Garcia, will she manage to win it in singles as well? 'I can assure you that it's one of my great goals. I am young and I am working hard to win a singles Major title one day.
It's not easy, rivals are there. Anyway, I am trying to focus on all the surfaces, although Roland Garros is really special. Clay is my favourite surface.' ALSO READ: Rafael Nadal: 'Federer, Djokovic are talented, but they worked hard'
