Roger Federer holds the record for most Grand Slam titles in men's tennis in the Open Era, having won 20 so far. The Swiss player has four more than Rafael Nadal, who has won 16 Slams. Despite the advantage, Federer thinks Nadal can still beat his total.
In an interview to Washington Post in March before the Match for Africa 5, Federer commented, 'I just feel like today we’re all so good on clay, grass and hard courts, if you get on a roll, you can rack up some titles. It’s not as safe as it was in, say, the 1980s.'
About his own resurgence which started in 2017, Federer said, 'It was never — "What do you guys think? Is this over?" I never had that. I felt I was too close to winning. I was too close to the top. I was too close to still beating the best.'
