José Luis Villuendas, better known as 'Prof Villu', revealed an interesting thing about Roger Federer which happened around two decades ago. Before becoming a tennis commentator, Villu worked for the Spanish tennis federation and for Spanish tournaments.
He worked as a driver too and he met Federer without knowing it. 'The organizers of El Espinar Futures event told me one day to take a player whose name wasn't mentioned and his coach neither,' Villu told Punto de Break in Madrid.
'I went there and when I saw a young boy with big tennis bags and his coach, I brought him to the El Espinar station, in Segovia. He had to play the qualifiers and I never knew who he was until ten years after the tournament when they published a book to mark the 20th edition of the tournament, which had its detailed history.
Suddenly, I saw a photo of Federer with his comments that he had played the event. I figured out that he was a doubles champion in that edition. Then I realized that the coach who was next to me that day was Peter Lundgren and Roger Federer was there too', ALSO READ: Pablo Cuevas describes how it feels to face Roger Federer in a match
