The Rome Masters is one of the most beautiful events on the tennis tour, hosted at the Foro Italico. The event is taking place for the 75th year in a row and already many fans have attended the first couple days of the tournament.
Who are the players who have competed in the tournament, the most number of times, from 1990, the year when the current Masters 1000 category was introduced? The list is led by the Swiss Roger Federer, who played on the Italian clay for 16 times, followed by the Italian Filippo Volandri with 15 appearances.
Spaniards David Ferrer and Feliciano Lopez equalled Volandri's record this year. Ferrer lost to Jack Sock in the first round, while Lopez also exited in the first round after a loss to Kei Nishikori. Nadal will make his 15th appearance, too, on Wednesday when he opens his campaign against Fernando Verdasco or Damir Dzumhur.
Fabrice Santoro is at the third place with 14 appearances. ALSO READ: Feliciano Lopez: 'Roger Federer makes you feel helpless'
