Roger Federer: 'I drive by myself in many cities around the world'

In a press conference at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle, Roger Federer explained his choice to drive from Stuttgart to Zurich by himself on Sunday. For the Swiss player, it wasn't really something new.

'I like to drive by myself', Federer said. 'I drive in Indian Wells, Miami, Australia, Dubai, Basel, even in Stuttgart. Yeah, so I drive by myself in many tournaments. I like the idea that we are alone in a car with the team, not always with a driver. We turn up the music, not that we can't do it with a driver, but we control the car, we roll down the windows, the music turns up when we like it the most, if not, then we should always ask, Could we? And, Could it be possible? In some tournaments, I always have the same drivers, because I came back to tournaments more and more times and there is also a sort of confidence in someone. But if I can drive by myself, it's like freedom for me.'
