Feliciano Lopez will soon break a historical record of Roger Federer. At Wimbledon, the Spaniard will overtake the Swiss for the most number of consecutive Grand Slam appearances. Federer's streak ended at the 2016 Australian Open with 65 Slams played. Lopez is tied at 65 as well, he equalled the Swiss at the French Open this year and now is set to break the record at Wimbledon, where he will mark his 66th Major appearance in a row. Among active players, behind Federer and Lopez in this statistic list, there is Fernando Verdasco (who would make his 61st Grand Slam appearance in a row at Wimbledon), Tomas Berdych (53), Novak Djokovic and Andreas Seppi (52), the Italian's streak is still open. We personally thank the sports journalist Andras Ruszanov for kindly giving us these data.
Lopez has withdrawn from Eastbourne after playing Stuttgart and Queen's back-to-back but should compete in Wimbledon. The Spanish player plans to compete at least for the rest of the 2018 season, then in 2019 he will officially become the Mutua Madrid Open tournament director but he will playing in the other tournaments.
