Roger Federer turns 37 today, Wednesday, August 8. Already many messages were published on social media to wish the 20-time Grand Slam winner an happy birthday. Federer is not in Switzerland but in New York, where he has been training since late July ahead of the Cincinnati's Western & Southern Open that starts on August 12.
Presumably, his wife Mirka and four children are already with Roger in the United States as well. This tournament will mark Federer's return to the competition, and now it's official as, through his official website, he added Cincinnati and US Open as his next tournaments.
Last year Federer celebrated his birthday in Montreal, as he played the Rogers Cup. In 2014 Toronto, he ate a magnificent cake on the court after his quarter-final match win over the Spaniard David Ferrer. Federer's birthday happens in a special week for him in terms of rankings milestone, as he overtook Andre Agassi for most weeks in top 25, 917 vs 916, an absolute record.
But that's not all: our wishes also go to two young promising tennis stars, the Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime who becomes adult - he turns 18 - just during the Rogers Cup where he defeated the Frenchman Lucas Pouille in the opening round match.
The Taipei native Chun Hsin Tseng instead becomes 17 years old, he won Wimbledon junior title last month. On August 9 it will be the Australian legend Rod Laver's turn, as he blows on 80 candles. ALSO READ: Rafael Nadal: 'I could have won Wimbledon, but Novak Djokovic deserved it'
