In an interview to CN Traveler ahead of the US Open last month, Roger Federer spoke about his schedule from now until the end of the year. The Swiss lost to John Millman in the US Open fourth round, and he revealed what his following plans are.
'Chicago next,' said Federer referring to Laver Cup that will take place from 21st to 23d September, 'then a tournament in Shanghai, a home tournament in Basel. But we’re going to go to East Hampton after the US Open, and I’m bringing family to China and Japan together which I’m very excited about.
I’ve always wanted to travel to Asia with my kids, but they were too young. But now the twin boys are four and the girls are nine. Then at the end of the year I’m probably going back to the Maldives with my family before starting training again in Dubai.' Federer did not mention Paris Masters, that he is set to miss for the third year in a row.
Paris takes place just after Basel in late October. The world no. 2 instead mentioned Japan, as he will go in Tokyo to attend a Uniqlo event as the brand's global ambassador before the Shanghai Masters. Federer also spoke about his love for different cuisines.
'I like to explore,' the 37-year-old confirmed. 'I’m totally open. I’m not the kind of guy that says, “Ooh, I only have to eat turkey sandwiches every day,” no no no no. I go out for Japanese, yesterday I ate French, I’m having Mexican tonight, I always have pasta before my game.
It’s become a hobby with my wife, we eat out and explore the great restaurants in the city. I like to dive into the culture and explore and respect what they eat.' ALSO READ: Andre Agassi: 'I could not cope with Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Djokovic'
