Stan Wawrinka would love to join Roger Federer in the Team Europe at the Laver Cup in September 2019 for the third year of the event that will be held at an 18,000-seat Palexpo stadium in Geneva. 'Yeah. Why not?', Wawrinka replied when asked on his thoughts about possibly playing Laver Cup.
'Geneva always makes you willing to play. It's a very tough event for a player. So we will have to think about what I want to do next year. Many things can be on the table', said Wawrinka, who does not plan to play the Davis Cup tie between Switzerland and Russia in February.
Wawrinka also spoke about his plans for the first months of the 2019 season: 'Yeah, if there are no big surprises, I imagine to start in Doha prior to the Australian Open. Then I think I will play a little bit in Europe, Acapulco.' On Twitter, Wawrinka's coach Magnus Norman said: 'Difficult season for us.
Really tough mental and physical effort that Stan has made to be where he is now. Thanks for the support for Stan.' Also, Federer sent a message of support to Stan, writing "C'mon". ALSO READ: Roger Federer: 'Last few months have been tough and we all know why'
