Marius Copil: 'I want to take revenge on Roger Federer'

The world No. 60 Marius Copil hopes to face Roger Federer one more time on the ATP Tour and defeat the Swiss, after that last month at the Swiss Indoors final in Basel the Romanian lost in straight sets, 7-6 6-4. 'I would like to play with Roger Federer again', said Copil.

'I want to get a revenge. I think the next time I will be much closer, I may win. I would really like to do it before leaving tennis. I will never forget that match for my whole life. He is my idol, he is the king of tennis now.

I would really love to go to Dubai and train together. Some suggestion by him, I think it's a big advantage because he sees the game in an unbelievable way, which can help me a lot. Andrei Pavel will speak with Roger and his coach to see when we will go there.

I cannot wait, I hope it happens.' 'We may see each other if we go to Dubai', Copil added. 'He told me that he was waiting for me there, to stay together. He told me that if I keep this aggressive gamestyle, I can beat a lot of opponents.' Federer will start the 2019 season at the Hopman Cup in Perth with Belinda Bencic, while Copil is committed to the Qatar Open in Doha.
