Miami Open Tournament Director James Blake was honored to see Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka cutting the ribbon of the new Hard Rock Stadium on Wednesday. Speaking to Tennis Channrl, Blake said: "Between those four, they are all getting ready their spot where they are gonna be hopefully holding the trophy in a couple of weeks.
They are ready, they have been comfortable and they are pretty relaxed." Rain affected the start of the Miami Open but Blake was confident: "We cannot control the weather but we had the rain so they all came out and just talked to a lot of the players and I cannot tell you how much excited I was, how much it warmed my heart when I came here today and got the feedback that players were really thrilled with that.
They all had fun, they were all happy to do it again, and we are gonna make it a full-time thing so every day we are gonna have a Tuesday start, the kid's day." Blake concluded: “When you look at and see the transformation of a parking lot and football field into what I think would be a great venue for tennis, it was an exciting thing.
We convinced people we could do something in a world-class manner. I’ve got to thank the team led by Tom Garfinkel for executing all the details to put together to make something great. Ideas are great but it’s the execution and handling all the details.
We welcome everybody going out to the fields and seeing the outer courts and what’s been put together. I think you’ll find it a really unique experience."
