Coach explains how Auger-Aliassime benefited from training with Federer

Felix-Auger Aliassime's coach Frederic Fontang believes that the 18-year-old Canadian benefited from training with Roger Federer in Dubai in December 2017. Speaking to Radio Canada, Fontang said: "It was very important to see how the best practice was.

Fekix saw that a big champion like Federer is a talent but also about a lot of work. It was nice for him to see." Auger-Aliassime added: "Federer is especially a very good person despite being a legend. He is very humble and respectful.

We always say hi each other when we meet." Auger-Aliassime also said he does not really care about expectations. Instead, he commented on how tennis will be in the next years: "Physics is changing, players are bigger and stronger at a young age.

The future of tennis will probably feature solid players like Djokovic, with a serve like Federer's and the Andy Murray's return. We see more complete players now." His compatriot Denis Shapovalov gets inspired by Federer to improve menfally: "I have to make a big step to reach this goal.

I still have to mature and improve my attitude on the court. I am inspired by Roger Federer, who was very emotional as well at my age. He managed to evolve himself to become the global ambassador and the idol he is today."
