Kermode: 'ATP Finals to have success even if Federer, Nadal don't play'

In a conference call, the ATP Chief Executive Chris Kermode commented on the ATP Finals being held in Turin from 2021 to 2025. "We have chosen Turin for a very easy reason: the passion they showed", said Kermode, who will leave the ATP Presidency at the end of the year.

"We really believe in it, when we started working about it we were amazed by the passion of people involved in tennis in Italy. Turin reinvented itself, it has energy and shares our vision. From this house, a new era for tennis stars.

This event is the super bowl of tennis, the biggest tennis event on the planet. Bringing it here was an important decision for us. When we picked London no one believed that indoor tennis would have worked, and you can see the results.

We are very happy to have found the right place in Turin. Will Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer have retired when the ATP Finals in Turin comes around in November 2021? The ATP Chief Executive Chris Kermode answered this question.

"It may happen, but tennis will always be one of the most important sports in the world. And if you were in the Next Gen ATP Finals, you can well understand what will happen. I am very confident, despite Federer and Nadal are not getting any younger, because the talent we find looking at some younger players, as well as some birthplaces of the future stars, will help us a lot.

Those players have different characters, different game styles, different ways to approach the sport. We can start thinking big about a new tennis era", said Kermode.
