Borna Coric: 'I was a bit unlucky in Rome against Roger Federer'

Borna Coric did not convert two match points in his third round loss to Roger Federer in the Rome Open. Speaking about that match, the Croatian player said: "It was a great fight, I was really enjoying my time there. I enjoy that kind of moments.

There were many people there, a great atmosphere, I was just enjoying it. Obviously, it did not end the way I wanted to, I was a bit unlucky but that's tennis at the end of the day. I am always trying to play the same way.

I am trying to play my game and not to focus too much on the other player. With Roger you never know, what he has done for the tennis with his talent, also his ability to play tennis and the way he plays he can always win. You never know if he is healthy, which I believe he is.

If he also has a bit of luck then why not." Coric also spoke about Rafael Nadal's chances to win his 12th title in Paris: "Obviously he was not playing great in Rome. Now that he has won in Rome, I think he is the favourite again in the French Open.

I know the things he has done there are unbelievable, not that he is the favourite on clay seems something strange but he is the favourite against all the players. There will be some other players, I do not know how dominant he will be, obviously Dominic Thiem who is one of the best players on clay courts."

"There's really a chance for everybody so the good players they can have bad weeks but there are some new faces coming in, some young girls, and it can change and is changing quickly so some of the old faces are maybe not as good as they were before so it's changing and it's open.

There is everything possible and maybe here there can be a new winner too. In a Grand Slam, it can take nerves, it's two weeks, which is pretty long for a tournament, I think you really need to be strong to go far."
