Facing Roger Federer is not that difficult, says Stefanos Tsitsipas

Speaking to Interview Magazine, Stefanos Tsitsipas commented on how it felt like to face Roger Federer thrice this year. Tsitsipas and Federer faced each other at the Hopman Cup, Australian Open and Dubai. The Greek defeated the Basel native in the first calendar Grand Slam of the year.

"I always imagined it would be much more difficult to face that kind of player, but doing the right things on the court didn’t seem really difficult to me," said Tsitsipas. On his popularity, he added: “Tennis is now so much about the personality off the court, interviews, being an athlete, and also being a ‘brand'

It’s important to showcase your personality and show people who you are and why you are the way you are. The internet allows you to put yourself out there and share experiences, share stories, share yourself, and who you are in this world”.

He added: "I am a very aggressive player. You really don’t want to lose this fire you have inside of you. It inspires me. When I walk out onto the court—when I face Djokovic or Nadal—it’s an extra motivation to play well.

It’s all about the mentality, making the right choices and not thinking twice”. On his neck chain, Tsitsipas added: “I bought this last year when I was on vacation in the British Virgin Islands. For some reason, I gave him a name.

I decided to name him Julius. He’s my partner in crime. He travels the world with me. It may sound crazy, but I feel like I have a friend on my chest—someone I can trust”.
