Chelsea F.C. star Ruben Loftus-Cheek is a big Roger Federer fan as the footballer enjoyed watching the Swiss on the Centre Court at Wimbledon on Wednesday. Loftus-Cheek watched tennis on the Centre Court at Wimbledon for the first time in his life as the Chelsea star "wanted to go for a while now."
Second-seeded Federer didn't disappoint Loftus-Cheek as he saw off No. 8 seed Kei Nishikori 4-6 6-1 6-4 6-4 to make the semifinal. "I really like Federer. Everyone loves him. I love how elegant he is," Loftus-Cheek told ITV Sport.
World No. 7 Nishikori broke Federer in the opening game of the match and then held on to his serve to claim the opener. Record eight-time Wimbledon champion Federer then stormed back as he broke Nishikori twice to easily win the second set and level the match at a one set apiece.
Federer kept putting big pressure on Nishikori's service games as he broke the Japanese once in each of the next two sets to seal the win. Federer will be fighting against third-seeded Rafael Nadal for a place in the Wimbledon final as the two old rivals are set to meet at The Championships for the first time since the famous 2008 Wimbledon final.
