In an interview in Los Cabos, Fabio Fognini praised Roger Federer. The Italian player said: "For me the best is Roger, or at least now, with all what he has won, how classy he plays, he is a guy who I would pay the ticket for.
Obviously the other two (Nadal and Djokovic) are behind him and are trying to get him. That's their goal. Sharing the same era with them makes us have few chances to fight for a Grand Slam title. Those three are winning all the big titles."
Asked what's most difficult between defeating Federer on grass, Nadal on clay or Djokovic on hard courts, Fognini replied: "No one. The only thing I get worried about is what I do, every day I wake up with a dream and I seek it, I work to achieve it.
I will give my best." "I won a pretty big tournament but I keep being the same guy. Every day I give my best and in tennis at the end of the day the goal is to win as many matches as possible, and nothing more."
Asked why so many over 30-year-olds compete at the highest level, Fognini concluded: "I do not know. We just play better now. I also reached the Roland Garros quarter-finals when I was younger, some circumstances happened, especially the maturity, being calmer and enjoying more."
Fognini lost to the American Taylor Fritz on Thursday in the quarter-finals match. Fabio opened his run defeating Marcel Granollers in three sets.
