In an interview to Mundo Deportivo Roberto Bautista Agut commented on his feelings heading into the US Open. The Spaniard said: "I am coming from what may be my best time in career, with many wins this year and with a good rhythm on the hard court after all the clay and grass court seasons and with good feelings.
The top ten is a prize for the many years of work, a lot of sacrifice, and I hope I can keep raising positions on the rankings and be with the best guys in the world as much as possible. Sometimes a couple of good results are needed to get to the top ten, but it's true that I feel a better player than six years ago, more experienced and with much more knowledge.
In New York it will be difficult matches because the humidity and heat here are one more opponent. It's extreme weather conditions." On Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, Bautista Agut said: "I think they are going through a good time and in a five-set Grand Slams they are always the opponents to beat."
Asked if he would like to face Djokovic as he already beat the Serb twice out of three times this year, Bautista Agut concluded: "I would like to face Novak as late as possible. It's clear that if I face him it will be in the important rounds, so I have to be focused." Bautista Agut played his last match on Tour in Cincinnati last week losing to David Goffin in the quarter-finals.
