Roger Federer: 'Me playing at 40 years of age is not impossible'

Could we still see Roger Federer playing at 40 years of age? The Swiss player answered this question to the journalist Simon Graf. "It’s not impossible", recognized Federer smiling. "A few years ago, I wouldn’t have thought that could be possible.

But when you feel fully fit as I do right now, you think you can play forever." Federer also commented on his high motivation competing at the highest level: “I guess at this stage it’s crucial and at the beginning otherwise, I wouldn’t pick up the racket.

In between, I’m sure you go through some stages where being on the road is maybe not what you always wanted to do. You also feel like you’ve missed out on a few things but I always try to see the glass half full.

I got to see so many incredible people around the world and see these cities that I never thought I’d visit when I was a little boy. That goes hand-in-hand playing on a court like this. Now it’s easy to see the joy, but you also need success.

Just saying ‘I love playing tennis and getting my a** kicked every day’ is not a great thing so you need some success. I did have that a long the way so it helped”.
