Belinda Bencic spoke about her mentality and character. The Swiss player said: "I am the exact opposite of Roger Federer, who can switch from enjoying to focusing over two seconds. I am always nervous, superstitious and energized.
I think sometimes I need this frustration and the feeling that I am getting crazy. I feel relieved. Then I start playing better. I try to always keep calm and control my emotions, but sometimes getting angry helps me to improve and I have no problems in finding focus."
On how it felt to reach US Open semifinals after dealing with injuries, Bencic said: "I was dreaming, of course, about this day coming, but you never know what's going to happen. You're not thinking about it.
You're just right in the moment. Either you're practicing or focusing on your match. I worked hard for this. It's not like I never imagined I could do this. Still, like, I stayed in the moment. Yeah, very nice feeling."
