In an interview Maria Osorio Serrano spoke about her feelings after winning her maiden Grand Slam junior title at the US Open. The Colombian aims to stay feet grounded despite the success she has been enjoying. "I am enjoying those days.
Then it will be time to be back to reality. The good thing is that my parents for some days could not deny me anything (laughter). But life continues and in two weeks I will be back competing from zero. I think I need to have a good camp.
The US Open is nice and good, but it finished. The most important thing is not to get, but keep growing. Even Federer, Nadal and Djokovic always want to learn. I have to improve so much", said Osorio Serrano. On the support she is receiving, Serrano added: "Yeah, there was a lot of people from Colombia cheering for me.
And also yesterday (at the US Open) after the semis, there was a lot of people also texting me and sending me message on Instagram and saying that they believe in me and that I'm doing a great job. So I was, like, Okay.
What is going to happen if I win the tournament? Yeah, nothing. I'm really thankful for this and I want to thank them because the whole week they have been, you know, supporting. So just thank you for that." On her schedule, Serrano concluded: "I will play some 60Ks here in U.S. and another 25 also. Yeah, that's what I'm thinking right now."
