In an interview to Match Tenis Patrick Mouratoglou spoke about Stefanos Tsitsipas' potential. The Frenchman said: "Stefanos is a great player. We started with him when he was 16 years old. I saw him on YouTube playing an Orange Bowl match and I said, I like this kid.
So I contacted his parents and I told them, Come here for a week. I want to see him live. I think he is a great competitor. He is different. He has a different mentality than any other player. He has great potential. He is motivated.
I think he has everything he needs to get far. He is a top ten guy, he beat Rafael Nadal on clay, Roger Federer in a Grand Slam and Novak Djokovic in a Masters 1000." On what makes the Mouratoglou Academy different and unique, he added: "When I started in 1996 all the Academies had the same model which was that players had to adapt to the system.
I said I do not believe in it. Every player deserves that everything is organized around him. I still think like that. I think all the players are different, with different qualities and needs, and we have to be able to give them what they exactly need.
The second thing that makes us different is that we are very careful about education. It's very important for us because, first of all, not everyone can become a champion and, second, because even the champions after their tennis careers have a 'second life' and they have to be prepared for that. We prepare people to be successful in life, not just tennis."
