Roger Federer: 'Me and Nadal are not best friends, but respect is the key'

In an interview to TVA Sports Roger Federer spoke about his relationship with Rafael Nadal. "To be honest we understand each other very, very well. What I like of Rafa is how open and honest we are one another.

We respect each other so much. Are we best friends? I do not think so. He has better friends than me and me too. But in the end, it's about the respect. When we fight on the court, we are rivals." The Swiss also commented on how he learned of Nadal's withdrawal at the Laver Cup on Sunday.

"He told me about all the problems he recently had with his hand. On Sunday morning, I was the first to receive his message that he was not able to play and he was disappointed and sad. I told him I would have understood and that there were some great other players on the team."

Meanwhile the US Open winner Bianca Andreescu spoke about the keys of her success: "I think it's just the meditation that really keeps me balanced and live the present. I have been doing it for a logn time. I have to be with myself for at least ten minutes a day and focus on breathing.

It's really important. There are many people who work on the physical aspect but for the mental aspect is important. I just won a great tournament, that's for sure, it will give me more confidence. I feel ready. My team did everything possible to make my return to practice comfortable. I feel well-rested and I am becoming stronger mentally and physically."
