Roger Federer: 'I do not know if there is the greatest tennis player ever'

Roger Federer was asked who should be considered as the greatest player ever. The Basel native replied: "I do not know if there is one, it could depend in some ways on the weeks you spent as a world No. 1, the Grand Slam titles, titles overall, the longevity, Grand Slams overall.

But in the end I think everyone has his opinions about it." Asked if he will play the Olympic Games in Tokyo next year, Federer replied: "Maybe, I am thinking about it, hopefully we take a decision over the next few weeks.

What I have to do is to give back to my country as much as possible, with emotions that can be connected to the game."

Meanwhile the former Spanish player Beatriz Garcia Vidagany spoke about how the Spanish tennis evolved: "Having a solid game will be the key to improve.

David Ferrer was not playing as aggressive as he did in the beginning when he finished, or Rafa. But you could see that every time he was playing more aggressive, hitting a bigger forehand and winners from any stage of the court.

Or Carla Suarez Navarro for example, before she was playing more from far away back, now you see her competing with Williams, Pliskova and all those girls."

Novak Djokovic is impressed with the Rakuten Open in Tokyo.

The Serb said: “I’ve heard a lot of positive impressions about this tournament from a lot of players, so I’m just excited and grateful to be here. I want to thank everybody for coming out. There is such a big number today for the practice”.
