German tennis star Alexander Zverev expects it to be extremely tough for him when he meets Roger Federer at the Shanghai Masters. Zverev, seeded at No. 5, is set to fight against second-seeded Federer for a place in the Shanghai semifinal.
The German overcame a tricky round-of-16 clash as he saw off fellow rising star Andrey Rublev in straight sets 6-0 7-6 (4). On the other side, Federer escaped with a straight-set win over world No. 14 David Goffin 7-6 (7) 6-4.
Goffin missed out on a great chance to win the first set as the Swiss saved a total of five set points to steal the opener. "I think it was very good tennis, but I know against Roger it's going to be very, very difficult.
He's going to try to do different things, and it's going to be a difficult match," Zverev said, per the ATP website. Zverev, 22, and 34-year-old Federer are set to meet for the seventh time in their respective careers. The head-to-head record between the two stands at 3-3.
