David Goffin ready to bounce back after loss to Roger Federer in Shanghai

David Goffin feels excited to compete in front of his crowd again in Antwerp after missing last year's event due to an injury. Goffin is playing the European Open for the third time after losing to Diego Schwartzman in the 2016 semifinals and to Stefanos Tsitsipas in the 2017 quarters.

"I feel well after two nice weeks in Asia. It's always better to be back being confident. There are still some days left to prepare and to feel well again. I am happy to be back this year. This end to the season is just a bonus, I do not have anything to defend.

If at the beginning of the year I was told that I could still try to reach the ATP Finals, I would have signed straight forward. I will try to keep on my way as long as possible, but it's difficult to think about the long term.

I just think match by match", said Goffin who lost to the Swiss Roger Federer in last week's Shanghai Masters. Stan Wawrinka is in Antwerp and said he took a wild card this week because he feels ready to play. "I was lucky to get a wild card in Antwerp, that is not too far away from Switzerland.

Also, conditions are very good here. But I do not have the ambition to win the title. I am focusing on my game and my first match. David Goffin and Gael Monfils are my favorite, they are close to reach the ATP Finals. The upcoming tournaments will be very important for them.

They want to clinch the qualification and seeing their game level in this part of the season will be interesting."
