David Goffin praises Roger Federer for being amazing person

In an interview to MyTennis David Goffin spoke about his admiration for Roger Federer. The Belgian player said: "I loved the way he was playing, the way he was on and off the court. Of course I did not know him off the court when I was younger but now I know him a little more.

I played against him in the 2012 French Open, I was so nervous in the locker room, it was my first Grand Slam main draw appearance, I had won three matches and then I faced him. I had completely nothing to lose, I won the first set, it was so close, a dream come true and an amazing memory especially at the French Open as Belgian people are coming there and they watch on TV."

Asked if he loves travelling around the world, he added: "Of course it's amazing places in tennis especially when you are coming from Europe when it's freezing. It's nice to come there with the sun and it's such an amazing tournament.

I love travelling. When you are older and you have a wife and kids it's tougher but I still love it and I enjoy it." Goffin also spoke about his relationship with his brother: "I remember for my birthday I received a net for kids, we put it on the garden and we built a sort of tennis court.

We were playing for hours and even if it was dark and it was time to eat, we were still playing. We were playing matches, cheating sometimes (laughter), it was fun and we wanted to beat one another."
