Medvedev: 'Roger Federer, Nadal, Djokovic almost never dropped their level'

Daniil Medvedev spoke to CGTN about how he deals with success. The US Open finalist said: "It's not that easy but it's kind of normal so I am just trying to be myself in normal life outside tennis. I still watch the same series and channels.

I am the same. I did not do anything special, it's just the work I put in over the last two years, two years and a half and I finally made that explosion because I was working really hard with my coach, mental coach, physio to put all things together.

Looking back at last year, for example, I would have said at the beginning of the year that it would be tough to make some explosion because I was already close to being Top 10. I beat sometimes good guys, now I made big steps forward.

But I know I need to continue working to maintain this level, we see many players who can drop, and of course, here I have to take an example of the big three, big four, with Andy, and the way they were throughout the years consistently and almost not dropping their level is almost extraordinary", he said referring to Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

"I know I need to work really hard to stay there." Looking ahead to his future, Medvedev added: "Hopefully I have a lot ahead of me, I want to continue working to see actually what life brings me because we can never know.

And I want to be higher in the overall rankings. I want to win more tournaments. But it's not easy, I'm going to do my best to see what tennis has got for me."
