Donna Vekic: 'I would love to play mixed doubles with Roger Federer'

Donna Vekic was asked who would be her favorite mixed doubles partner. The Croat thought about it for a while and then she replied: "Roger Federer." Vekic was dating Federer's fellow Swiss Stan Wawrinka for a while, before breaking up.

Vekic also spoke about the WTA Elite Trophy in Zhuhai: "I really enjoy my time here so far. The hotel's great, the club is really amazing, I really like these conditions with the covered courts. I think it really suits my game, so I'm really excited to start playing some matches."

On her recent results, Vekic added: "My Asian swing didn't go as good as I planned and wanted, for sure. But I had some tough matches, especially in Beijing, losing to Kiki 7-6 in the third set. So I'm actually really looking forward to playing her tomorrow."

Vekic lost in the group stage of the WTA Elite Trophy in Zhuhai after losing both her matches to Kiki Bertens and Dayana Yastremska. Meanwhile, reassessing her season, Bianca Andreescu who will play her first-ever WTA Finals, concluded: "I think my best tournament has to be US Open, for sure.

But my best match? Hmm. Maybe against Sasnovich in Brisbane or I against Hercog in Linz a few weeks ago. That was definitely my fastest match."
