Dominic Thiem's agent Herwig Straka has backed the 26-year-old Austrian player for more success. Thiem is the world No. 4 this week only behind Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. Straka believes Dominic can overcome one of the three in the beginning of the 2020 season.
"He has less points to defend at the Australian Open and there is still a lot of potential", he said. Thiem lost in the second round in the first calendar Grand Slam of the season. Thiem thinks he is an all-court player: "Indian Wells hard courts are very slow, almost like clay, but ATP Finals, Vienna, Beijing or Shanghai are really fast and I played really well unlike I did in the past.
I made a giant step towards the right direction. I exactly know what to work on and what I have to improve, I hope to make a further step forward and be fully prepared once the Australian swing starts. I am very happy about my body, We are at the limit of the hard training and we constantly travel, with a better plan I can perform even better in the biggest events."
On the co-operation between Thiem and his coach Nicolas Massu, Straka added: "It's about improving some areas, but his help is giant. Now he will have some holidays, but not for five weeks like a normal worker."
In early December Thiem will work with the fitness trainer Duglas Cordero in Miami. On December 20 they will head into Australia and also Massu will be there. Thiem will start his new season at the ATP Cup
