The France's Fed Cup team captain Julien Benneteau spoke about Roger Federer playing exhibition matches in South America during the same week as the Davis Cup Finals in Madrid. Last year Benneteau had claimed Federer gets a special treatment from tournament organizers.
Benneteau, speaking to Bein Sports, said: "It bothers me that it happens during the Davis Cup, that's all. He is the greatest player of all time and it's normal that he has so many requests around the world. Argentineans are able to create an unbelievable environment and that's completely deserved, but it bothers me that it happens during the Davis Cup."
Novak Djokovic hopes he will carry Serbia very far in the Davis Cup Finals in Madrid. The world No. 2 said: "I think it was always our goal to pass the group. And that's why I was emphasizing the importance of winning doubles against Japan yesterday.
You know, 3-0, coming into this day, it gives you a little bit more relief because we knew if we win one match, maybe another set or, you know, we're already through, even if we lose the tie against France today. I didn't really pay too much attention to calculations because, you know, I've -- you know, I've never had a really good experience with calculating and playing tennis.
I leave that to somebody else. And for us, it was important just to win every match that we play, and we did that after singles. I think both Filip and I are in very good form. There are a lot of quality teams here, but I think we have had a perfect score so far with winning all the sets and hopefully we can keep going."
