He may be one of the richest men on the planet but playing along side 20 time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer is a separate thrill for American billionaire Bill Gates. The 64 year old Gates will be part of the Match in Africa exhibition event in Cape Town on Friday alongside Federer, Rafael Nadal and The Daily Show host Trevor Noah.
Gates will partner Federer in a celebrity doubles match up against Nadal and Noah. The event is expected to draw a world record 50,000 spectators and the proceeds will go towards the Roger Federer Foundation, which helps children in education in South Africa and Switzerland.
Gates tweeted on Tuesday, "I’m excited to team up with @rogerfederer again for the Match in Africa Friday in Cape Town. Playing alongside Roger is always a thrill, and I can’t wait to face off against @RafaelNadal and @Trevornoah." This is not the first time that Gates is partnering Federer.
He and Federer played against American tennis star John Isner and Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready in Seattle in 2017. Federer is expected to reach Cape Town on Wednesday afternoon while Nadal is expected to reach there on Thursday.
The match, which is the sixth edition of the event, is scheduled for 7th February 2020.
