Lynette Federer recalls family's first trip to South Africa after Roger was born

Lynette Federer remembers well the family's first trip to South Africa after Roger was born. Federer, 38, returned to South Africa this week for a charity match. The record 20-time Grand Slam champion is set to meet his old rival Rafael Nadal this Friday.

Federer's mom Lynette was born in South Africa and the Swiss wanted to play a match there before calling it a career. "I remember well when we flew to South Africa for the first time with our kids, Roger was three or four months old, his sister kept us busy the whole flight whereas Roger was sleeping, when we returned after the summer months Roger could sit and crawl," Lynnete Federer said, per Tages-Anzeiger.

This week, Federer spoke about how much he is excited about The Match in Africa and underlined that playing there means a lot to him. The match is expected to break the record for the largest tennis crowd ever as around 50,000 spectators are expected to be in attendance.

All the proceeds gathered from The Match in Africa 6 will be donated for the benefit of children in the region
