'When he enters the court, Roger Federer is no longer...', says former star

Not even time to find him, after 404 long days away from the fields, and Roger Federer has disappeared again, leaving his adoring crowds waiting for a new date for his appearance. After the defeat in Doha against Basilashvili, second match after the return, Federer canceled himself from the Dubai tournament scheduled this week announcing a return to clay tournaments: "With my team we decided to continue with training and jump Dubai - he said last week - and if it will be necessary to put matches in the legs in view of the season on grass, I will also play on clay ».

The Swiss, however, does not appear in the list of entries for the Masters 1000 in Montecarlo, scheduled (behind closed doors) in the Principality from 10 to 18 April this year. Former World No. 26 Victor Hanescu recently revealed how Roger Federer is a completely different person on and off the court.

According to Hanescu, the 39-year-old goes from being a polite guy to a fierce competitor the moment he walks out for a match.

Hanescu comments on Roger Federer

"Roger Federer is a very elegant guy off the court," Victor Hanescu stated.

"There are a lot of things he does out of politeness. He knows what level he is at and that he has to behave in a certain way. But when he enters the court, he transforms completely and we can see a Roger Federer who is no longer so friendly and kind and becomes a ferocious fighter."

Roger Federer recently made his comeback at the Qatar Open 2021 after almost 13 months. The Swiss Maestro managed to reach the quarters of the tournament but lost a close contest against Nikoloz Basilashvili. Even though Federer couldn’t win the tournament, it was surely an amazing moment for fans to witness their superstar on the court once again.

Although Roger Federer made a comeback at the Qatar Open 2021, he is not fully fit at the moment. Thus, he has decided to withdraw from the ongoing Dubai Tennis Championships 2021. The problem with most of the players is that both Dubai Tennis Championships and the Mexican Open take place at the same time.

Thus, players can only take part in one of them at a moment. Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer are the two players who usually prefer to play in Dubai than in Mexico. On the other hand, Rafael Nadal is an integral part of the Mexico Open and has even won the tournament three times.

However, the Spaniard will miss the event this time due to an injury. It is possibly because of this reason that the director is a little bit frustrated and might have taken a jibe at Federer.
