Weeks go by and the only certainty is that Novak Djokovic continues to increase one of the great records in the history of tennis, and the truth is not seen when or who can stop it. With everything and that he decided not to play the Mutua Madrid Open, the Serbian tennis player comfortably remained at the top of the men's tennis classification.
"Nole", 33, awoke 320 weeks as the number one in the world, separating himself even more from his pursuers in said classification. "Nole" is already the tennis player who accumulates the longest time in the position of honor and there is no time when they can move him.
His triumph at the Australian Open gives him a margin for him to reach the mini turf tour still as number one in the world. At the moment he already takes 10 weeks from his main pursuer, which is the Swiss Roger Federer with 310.
Although the "express" is still active and is currently sixth in the ranking, the possibility that he will return to the top at 39 years of age is very remote. The third and last place on the podium is occupied by the American Pete Sampras with 286 weeks.
Further back on the list are Americans Ivan Lendl and Jimmy Connors, with 270 and 268, respectively. On his part, the Spanish Rafael Nadal is in the sixth historic box with 209 weeks being the leader of the ATP circuit. These are the only six tennis players in history who have exceeded the 200-week barrier as world number one, with Djokovic holding the record with a figure that will continue to increase in the coming months.
Federer will play the French Open in 2021
Roger Federer recently starred in an advertisement for Switzerland Tourism along with legendary Hollywood star Robert de Niro. The commercial, meant to accelerate tourism growth in Switzerland, has grabbed a fair few eyeballs already.
Now, the creative heads behind the film - Andre Hefti and Livio Dainese - have revealed some interesting anecdotes about Roger Federer and Robert de Niro from the shoot. Livio Dainese, meanwhile, shed some light on Federer and De Niro's personalities as well as their performances in the commercial.
"Roger Federer is exactly the down-to-earth guy you would expect," Livio Dainese said. "Simply a nice person who is also incredibly talented and successful. I was impressed by Roger's acting and his desire to try things out.
And on the other hand Robert De Niro, who was already very good on the first take, but then improved again from take to take. Impressive." Andre Hefti further highlighted the fact that securing Roger Federer was the biggest golden ticket for Switzerland Tourism.
"Our new partnership with Roger Federer opens one or the other door," Hefti said. "I guess an email from Roger Federer is always happy to be answered - also from De Niro."
