'Some would like it to be Nadal or Roger Federer who wins but...', says ATP star

The organizers of the All England Club have released a detailed breakdown of the prize money for the 2021 Wimbledon Championship. As was the case with the Australian Open and the French Open, the total prize pool has been reduced by 5.2 percent to 35,016 million pounds.

Singles champions at the 2021 Wimbledon championships will receive a paycheck of £ 1.7 million each Singles championship winners will walk away with a cash prize check of £ 1.7 million, up from 2 , 35 million pounds from the previous edition of the tournament.

While the prize money has been reduced for players who reach the quarter-finals, semi-finals, or runners-up, the payout has been increased for those who finish between rounds 1 through 4. It marks the continuation of a Roland policy- Garros.

While organizers haven't explained why the prize money was cut at Wimbledon this year, the novel coronavirus pandemic is the most likely reason for the cut. The FFT had blamed pandemic problems for a massive cut in prize money at Roland-Garros last year.

With sponsors citing the problems of the pandemic and their coffers as well, taking a hit, the FFT had announced a prize money cut in the region of 10.93%. While last year's tournament corpus was reduced to € 38 million, this year it was further reduced to € 34 million.

While the Big 3, the combined nickname of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, will lead the men's field on the grass this year, Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka and other great female stars will seek glory in the women's field.

Gilles Simon was a bit annoyed with certain things after the end of the French Open

The French Open 2021 ended last week, and the winners broke numerous records. The tournament had everything from comebacks to action-packed matches.

However, Gilles Simon added some spice with his interview for L’Equipe. The French international went on a little rant about the quality of matches at the French Open. “I tweet very little but some things caught my attention.

There are a lot of people, who are stuck on certain things and you want to tell them: “But you watch them, the matches?” Me, I see the half Rafael Nadal – Novak Djokovic and the final Djokovic – Tsitsipas, and I see crazy matches!

Because some would like it to be Nadal or Roger Federer who wins, that they minimize the quality of Tsitsipas as soon as he makes a mistake, while he has a dream attitude, that makes me react. When you want a result, you don’t see the game in the same way anymore. Too many people are just missing out while the players are just monstrous!” said the French star.
