Actor Jon Bernthal revealed Serena Williams told him being coached by Rick Macci was fun. Macci was one of the first coaches to work with Serena and Williams. Bernthal played the role of Macci in King Richard movie. "Everybody who talked about Rick Macci, including Serena Williams, the first thing they said is, 'It was among the funnest times in their lives.
Just playing for Rick was fun,'" Bernthal said. Recently, Macci declared Williams as the greatest tennis player of all time and said it's not even close. "To me it’s easy with [the women], you already know what I’m going to say,” Macci told Essentially Sports.
“I think if you just judge it on the accomplishments and with your eyes, I don’t think anybody is even close to Serena. “I just don’t even think it’s close. Nothing against anybody else, but she’s incredible”.
'Williams is incredible is every way'
"[It’s] nothing to do with me,” Macci continued on Serena’s greatness. “She’s just incredible in every way. To me that’s a slam dunk”. Macci made an interesting claim, saying Williams "never probably thinks she's even lost." "The inner quality of Serena.
To this day, according to me, she probably thinks she's undefeated in her own way. She never probably thinks she's even lost. She just ran out of time. It's a way you play this game within a game of your own mind," Macci claimed.
Unfortunately, Williams won't be returning to action at the Australian Open. Williams hasn't played since Wimbledon due to a hamstring issue. "While this is never an easy decision to make, I am not where I need to be physically to compete," Williams told the Australian Open website.
"Melbourne is one of my favorite cities to visit and I look forward to playing at the AO every year. I will miss seeing the fans, but am excited to return and compete at my highest level."
