23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams is happy for Caroline Wozniacki after the Dane announced she had and her husband David Lee are expecting their second child. On Instagram, 2018 Australian Open champion Wozniacki announced she and ex-NBA star Lee are expecting their second child.
"Ready for round 2ð¤°ð¼ð #familyof4comingsoon," Wozniacki wrote on Instagram. Williams, who had many great battles versus Wozniacki, commented under the Dane's post.
"Amazing. So happy," Williams commented on the post.
Williams to Wozniacki: I love you
Williams also shared Wozniacki's post on her Instagram Story and put a "Love You" caption.
Meanwhile, Williams is set to return to action after being out for the past 12 months. Last Tuesday, Williams revealed her plans to compete in Eastbourne this week. In her first tournament back, Williams will team up third-ranked Ons Jabeur in the Eastbourne doubles event.
Williams and Jabeur, who are set to debut as a pair, have been drawn to meet Marie Bouzkova and Sara Sorribes Tormo in the Eastbourne first round. Last week, Williams was announced as a Wimbledon wildcard recipient. Williams is a seven-time Wimbledon champion and many feel that she can't be underestimated at The Championships even though she hasn't played in a year.
Nicole Pratt, a former Australian tennis star, said players have been always scared to face Williams, especially on grass. "I think she wins 70, 80 per cent of her matches psychologically," Pratt told the Australian Open website.
"The champion she is, she's built that reputation, and it's scary to play Serena Williams. And it's even scarier to play Serena on grass. With the serve, with the return, and the plus-ones, she can be in complete control and you don't have a say in the point.
Which mitigates the need for (optimal) physicality." Last year, Williams injured her ankle and was forced to retire her Wimbledon first round match. It remains to be seen how far can Williams go in her first tournament back.
