Kim Kardashian reacts to Serena Williams retiring

Kim Kardashian called Serena Williams the greatest of all time after the 23-time Grand Slam champion announced her plans to retire at this year's US Open. In a post published for Vogue, Williams revealed her plans to end her professional career at the US Open.

On Instagram, Williams posted several photos from her Vogue photoshoot. Under Williams' Instagram post, Kardashian reacted to the American retiring by putting the goat emoji - which in the sports culture stands for the greatest of all time.

Williams to focus on family and business

Williams is set to go down as one of the greatest players in sports history. In her piece for Vogue, Williams didn't want to use the word "retirement" as she described her situation as "evolving away from tennis."

"I have never liked the word retirement. It doesn’t feel like a modern word to me. I’ve been thinking of this as a transition, but I want to be sensitive about how I use that word, which means something very specific and important to a community of people.

Maybe the best word to describe what I’m up to is evolution. I’m here to tell you that I’m evolving away from tennis, toward other things that are important to me. A few years ago I quietly started Serena Ventures, a venture capital firm.

Soon after that, I started a family. I want to grow that family," Williams wrote for Vogue. Williams was out for a year before suffering a first round exit at Wimbledon. Now, Williams is set to end her career at the US Open.

Williams has been on 23 Grand Slams since 2017 and she will likely finish her career without tying Margaret Court's all-time record of 24 Grand Slams. "Unfortunately I wasn't ready to win Wimbledon this year," Williams said in the essay.

"And I don't know if I will be ready to win New York. But I'm going to try. And the lead-up tournaments will be fun."
