NFL star Saquon Barkley explains his viral reaction from Serena Williams match

NFL star Saquon Barkley admitted he was completely locked in on rooting for Serena Williams during the American's US Open third round match. Barkley, a star running back for the New York Giants, was in attendance for Williams' match versus Ajla Tomljanovic.

Barkley's reactions from the match went viral.

"I was getting into it and I put myself in that situation and in the moment.

I am not good at tennis, I only played it one time. Obviously, she didn't get the win. She didn't win the whole thing. But obviously it was her last match. She was grinding and I was locked in and joining," Barkley said during Monday Night Football on ESPN+.

Unfortunately for Williams and Barkley, the American's run ended that night following a three-set defeat to Tomljanovic. After concluding her US Open run, Williams acknowledged the great support she was receiving throughout the entire tournament.

“It was some really great moments today. Not today, but this week, has been really great. Just so much support, so much love. It was really amazing and overwhelming. And I just feel like the whole crowd was really wanting to push me past the line.

I’m so thankful and grateful for that. I think honestly what I’ll remember most is that my level was coming back. I think I’m really grateful for that. It’s great to be playing at such a high level, somehow improving.

I don’t know how at my age. I think that’s a really good memory for me," Williams said. Also, Williams appeared in the US Open women's doubles event. For the first time since 2018, Serena and Venus Williams teamed up for a doubles event.

The Williams sisters, who had 14 Grand Slam titles together, suffered a first round defeat to Lucie Hradecka and Linda Noskova.
