Venus Williams: I knew it was going to be a bad injury

Venus Williams admitted she simply knew "it was going to be a bad injury" the moment she pulled her hamstring during her Auckland round-of-16 match against Zhu Lin. In the third set of her Auckland match against Zhu, Williams tore her hamstring before suffering a 3-6 6-2 7-5 loss.

"But I've hurt my hamstring enough to know that there's nothing to be done once you hurt it, like, either you keep playing or don't, but there's nothing you can do. I did not call the trainer. I think I just panicked and threw up on myself the rest of the match, like, I just had shots that I could hit winners.

I unfortunately walked off the court not a winner of that match and you know, about a seven or eight-hour encounter which really were the craziest circumstances I played in in my long, long, long, long career," Williams said in a video uploaded on her YouTube channel, per Sportskeeda.

After getting an MRI, the results showed a hamstring tear. Williams, who was granted a main draw wildcard into the Australian Open, pulled out of the opening Grand Slam of the season and returned the wildcard to Tennis Australia.

"I knew that it was going to be a bad injury. That's the point when I withdrew from the Australian Open. I had a wildcard and it was so awesome, but it wasn't for me and I wanted someone else to have that opportunity because I knew I wouldn't have a chance to play.

Right now, Williams is in the process of rehabbing. Williams has not started running yet and she confirmed she won't be playing tennis in the upcoming weeks.
