Serena Williams was honored with the Fashion Icon by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), becoming the first athlete to receive the prestigious award. The legendary North American tennis player was praised by her countrywoman Jessica Pegula, who defined her as an icon, through an Instagram story of hers.
The US Open social media account shared some of Serena's most incredible outfits: "In honor of @serenawilliams receiving the @cfda Fashion Icon Award, we're taking a look back at some of Serena's most iconic on-court looks." Pegula shared one of the shots on her Instagram stories, with the simple words: "So iconic." Serena followed other fashion and style icons who received the Fashion Icon from the Council of Fashion Designers of America, such as Zendaya, Beyonce, Rihanna and Naomi Campbell.

The former tennis star received the Fashion Icon Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America for her contributions to American fashion.
Serena talked about how fashion was important to her during her career, both during her on-court challenges and during her life off-court. "I knew from an early age that I was different, so I explored fashion and style as a way to stand out.
In many ways for me, the tennis courts became my runway, and the U.S. Open was my personal New York Fashion Week "Rethinking the traditional tennis dress became a way to express my individuality, my confidence and, most importantly, my culture," said the North American icon.
We recall Serena and his husband Alexis Ohanian welcomed their second child, Adira River, another baby girl, after their fist daughter, Olympia Jr.
