Serena Williams' childhood coach Rick Macci reached out to Emma Raducanu's agent to tell him he could help the 21-year-old "mentally and strategically like no other." Macci, who famously coached the Williams sisters in their childhood for four years, highlighted to Raducanu's agent that he is not a coach who travels around the Tour with a player.

However, Macci provided a detailed explanation of how he could help the 2021 US Open champion get back on the right track. But when he received a response from Raducanu's agent, he learned that her parents were handling any potential coaching appointments.

Since 2021 Wimbledon, Raducanu has worked with five different coaches. In June, Raducanu split with coach Sebastian Sachs and she has yet to announce a replacement.

“I spoke to her agent, but he said her parents deal with coaching appointments.

I’m not a travel coach, people come to me. I can help her mentally and strategically like no other. I don’t know where her head is at, whether there is the hunger and belief there to be the best. If you look at Carlos Alcaraz, everything changed for him with success at an early age, but he was ready and loaded.

I don’t know Emma or what’s in her head, but you don’t lose talent and ability. Yes, you might lose a little confidence and fitness, but technically she’s very good – you don’t win a Grand Slam otherwise.

If she really wants to be one of the best in the world – and she has the ability – then you need to cope with the pressure that comes with that. She should want pressure. You do all this training to be a professional player and want to be the best in the world.

She has to be able to deal with what comes with that. She must be prepared to deal with the media," Macci told The Telegraph. In the interview, Macci also addressed Raducanu saying sometimes she regrets winning the US Open because of everything that happened afterward.

Responding to that, Macci told Raducanu that's not the right attitude because she simply cannot allow herself to be hurt by comments from critics and doubters.
