Serena Williams Is Focusing On the Present Instead Of Focusing On the Calendar Slam- View: 2050 by Ammad Raja
As the US Open series gets set to start off with the Rogers Cup, all top 8 players arriving in Montreal took their time to speak to the media. During these interviews, all of these athletes had their say on the possibility of Serena Williams completing and calendar grand slam and most of them did agree that the World No 1 is highly likely to achieve the feat.
However, during those interviews, there was one player who refused to put her focus on the US Open and a calendar grand slam and that was Williams herself. The American refused to focus her attention towards the last grand slam of the year but instead chose to turn her attentions towards the Rogers Cup by saying that she wants to focus on the present at the moment.
“I’m not thinking ahead to the (U.S.) Open right now because I’m right here in Toronto,” Williams said. “For me it’s important to stay in the moment.” And of course does have her reasons and priorities set in the right manner.
Williams has won the Rogers Cup three times before and has opted to focus her attention and efforts on winning another one. Whether she is able to achieve that feat is another question as the competition this year in Montreal is going to be high with majority of the top players opting to compete at the event.
